January on Pandora

The cold was cold, but the wind was freezing....on the way to see Avatar yesterday morning (the only not sold out show as of three days ago).. and then to be plunged into the fecund world of Pandora's illuminated nights, ferned, predatorialized days, and screaming dives off mountains floating in mist ripped skies. Nice. I greet you 2010, with a smile for all blue people with nerve fringed braids.

Beginning of Winter

The other day: Om Shanti Om wherein was a dance/song number with the refrain:"Pain of disco!"
Then: snow coming down at night, and within the streetlight's aura: drift of shattered fireflies
Today: painting, dancing to Lady Gaga and the soundtrack of Dil Se, then: Ashes of Time Redux, and leftover from last night's party: red velvet cake

Along the axes of the dancer's path---how do you measure?--is it all different or is it really all equal...in the sense that the heart is isotropic in its ability to stretch and vibrate infinitely (thus equally) in all directions.

Dreamy, Real, & Story

One day on my drawing table objects got really interesting and then I started tearing things out of my little sketch books and gluing them in...and then: doodles & descriptions!




From a story I once wrote...the landscape always stayed with me as did the main character while the rest of the story peeled away, frayed by time.

Torn Equations

I'm photographing things to update my website. These are a series of collages I did using an old physics book my Dad was getting rid of. The additional imagery is from objects (juggling club, bottles, umbrella & horse that fell out of my head) around the house done in watercolors and pencil with a little extra torn paper thrown in occasionally:

Lights

I've put up lights around books and lights around walls...to mimic the great festival of luminance happening in the streets.

Pisces & Cycle

This is a photo of me from my circus days. I showed it to an Italian, philosopher friend recently. He told me that the source of the t-shirt quote was a German feminist group and that they also had bars called Fish Meets Bicycle. My thinking, at the time, was that it was a double joke because I had done a big painting about a bicycle and am a Pisces (the fish has already met the bicycle). That paired with the huge silvery eyelashes make it one of my favorite pictures of myself.

So after more twiddles of the wrist and a few poke-the-brain-with-your-eye decisions, we've arrived here. Getting there, somewhere.
I'm back to reading Stephen King or studying Chinese...
Then I'll get back to painting...
