Mom Post

This is a painting of my son in Greece on the island of the most beautiful sunsets in the world with a native Minoan:

..and this is my son now, doing what he calls "the girl jump":

Don't know what a "girl jump" is. But I'll take his word for it!

The colors in that painting are beautiful. The light reminds me a bit of something out of Maxfield Parrish work. Great phoenix, too.

thanks--I think you're right about the Maxfield Parrish reference, although he wasn't in mind when I painted it.
It isn't a phoenix--it's the creature that is painted on the wall of the throne room in Gnossos on Crete.

Would that be the island of Santorini?

I went to Santorini a few years ago (very off-season) and stayed in the Oia part of it - I can't remember if I'm spelling that correctly - at any rate, my abiding memory is finding the island very beautiful but being unable to find anything to eat on it since all the restaurants were closed.
